30 Jan 1982 | 7" | Thomas Dolby: Airwaves |

The Spanish single had reversed side A and B and had translated titles (La Destrucción del Nino Rubio / Ondas Aareas).
25 March 1982 | 7" | Thomas Dolby: Radio Silence |
Radio Silence 3.47 / Radio Silence (Version) 4.32 (Venice in Peril Records, VIPS 102)
Side A recorded & mixed Jan 1982.
TD: "There are two very different renditions of 'Radio Silence.'
I originally recorded it with the same rock band as had played on many other
GOLDEN AGE OF WIRELESS tracks: Kevin Armstrong, Justin Hildreth, and Mark Heyward-Chaplin.
But I had second thoughts about it after listening to the album in toto and
decided it was too 'rockist.' About the same time the opportunity came up
for me to work with Daniel Miller (Depeche Mode's producer and supremo of
Mute Records) plus Akiko Yano was in town! so I decided to take another
crack at it. The result seemed to fit in with the GOLDEN AGE OF WIRELESS ethos,
and made for a nice little SW radio-driven sequence on side two.
Today, I am fond of both versions." [TD 10 sep 2008, http://blog.thomasdolby.com/?p=569]

Hector Cook analysed the slightly different version of Puppet Theatre 3 Jan 2024:
"In the sections that begin at 35 seconds, 1 min. 40 seconds etc there is a distinct difference where the [original B-side version] does have 'more' vocals than this 1992 CD version.
Here you are not talking about a different vocal but simply an extension of the original vocal (either by reverb, echo or delayed overdub),
and as it’s only in certain sections of the song rather than the whole thing then it’s clearly a deliberate act on someone’s part."
