  10. Young Girls (Single version)
  11. Young Girls (Disco Version) (German CD 26 July 2013: Repertoire, REP 5310)

Feb 1980 7"/12" Sparks: When I'm with You

    When I'm with You 3.52 / When I'm with You (instrumental) 3.45
This single version is available on 'Sparks: The Heaven Collection' CD and 'The Very Best of Sparks' Repertoire CD. Liner notes in Sparks CD "The Heaven Collection" 1993: "Ron had played Giorgio scores of songs before recording 'Terminal Jive' and all had been rejected with the exception of 'When I'm with You' which Giorgio still felt needed a new middle section. In commercial terms, this was the biggest single Sparks has had to date, and it was never even released in America. The majority of the sales came from France where we stayed for nine months as a result of the large number of TV shows we appeared on. A video of Ron as a ventriloquist and me as his dummy (no comments please) was shown to death in France. As a result, we could walk into virtually any couscous restaurant in Paris and get the best table in the house."

April 1980 7"/12" Sparks: Young Girls

Young Girls [single edit] 3.52 / Just Because You Love Me 4.36 (UK & German 7")

Young Girls 3.52 / Rock'n'Roll People in a Disco World 4.47 (French 7") Young Girls (Disco version) 6.13 // Young Girls 4.49 / Just Because You Love Me 4.36 (UK 12")

The disco version *should* have been available on Sparks' The 12inch Mixes CD!, but it's the album version. Liner notes in Sparks CD "The Heaven Collection" 1993: "Yes, Your Honor, it is a song about being a dirty old man."

All songs produced by Moroder/Bellotte. Recorded in 1981 and intended for release the same autumn, but for various reasons it was not released until 1996. A wide range of styles, but I only like eight of them: 5, 6, 8, 9, 10, 14, 15 and 16. Not her best album but worth buying anyway. Some CDs have a different track order than mine.

  1. Flashdance ... What a Feeling 3.53 [music and production: Moroder; vocals: Irere Cara]
  2. He's a Dream 3.28 [no involvement by Moroder]
  3. Love Theme from Flashdance 3.27 [music and production: Moroder; vocals: Helen St. John]

  6. Imagination 3.35 [no involvement by Moroder]
  7. Romeo 3.13 [music: Bellotte/Levay; produced by Moroder/Bellotte; vocals: Donna Summer]
  8. Seduce Me Tonight 3.31 [music and production by Moroder; vocals by Cycle V]
  9. I'll Be Here Where the Heart Is 4.36 [no involvement by Moroder]
  10. Maniac 4.04 [no involvement by Moroder]
1 is a standard Moroder production, 3 is a wonderful and hauntingly beautiful song which shows that he can not only play rhythms but also write beautiful melodies. 4 is a very good rocker, and 5 is a romantic and slow affair that was very popular in 1983, and 6 is OK too. 7 is from Donna Summer's I'm a Rainbow and is an electronic rock stomper. 8 is more conventional rock with Moroder's stomping. 9 is romantic (and boring) and the final track 10 is actually one of the best tracks on the album even though Moroder has nothing to do with it.

April 1983 soundtrack 7"/12" Irene Cara: Flashdance ... What a Feeling

    Flashdance ... What a Feeling 3.53 / Love Theme from Flashdance (Instrumental) 3.26 (7")

Flashdance ... What a Feeling (Extended Remix by John 'Jellybean' Benitez) 7.16 / Found It 4.30 (12")

The B-side has no involvement by Giorgio.

(CD April 1997: Unidisc, SPLK 7299)
Produced by Moroder (except 'You Were Made For Me': produced by James Newton Howard). Generally a very nice and uptempo dance album (5, 6 and 10 are the only slower tracks). Includes five extended versions and one bonus track ('Talk Too Much' which is more of a synth pop tune than a dance track, not unlike Romance '83). In short, a great CD!
