Julian Hermeyer kindly informed me:
“Biding My Time” was a part of “The Man”, one of two conceptual song cycles that Pink Floyd played live at the time (1969), but never released in its entirety.
“The Journey” was supposed to reflect life’s journey; “The Man”, in contrast, describes the course of an ordinary day
(both themes would later be revisited for songs like “Childhood’s End” and “Time”.
One of the reasons why “The Man/The Journey” did not get a LP release might have been that both pieces included older songs such as “Careful with that Axe, Eugene”, “Pow R. Toc H.”, “Quicksilver”...

- Outside the Wall 1.51 (EMI 523 562 2)
Recorded in 1980 and 1981 during "The Wall Tour".
Info from Julian Hermeyer:
"Actually, “What Shall We Do Now” was always intended to be on “The Wall”. But apparently, there was not enough space on the LP to include it,
so a new song called “Empty Spaces” was written that was a lot shorter, but starts similarly. “Empty Spaces” was the replacement for “What Shall We Do Now” on the album,
but PF never played “Empty Spaces” live and also didn’t include it on the movie. This means that there is a mistake on the CD “Is There Anybody Out There” –
they separated “What Shall We Do Now” into two parts, the first one mis-dubbed “Empty Spaces” (because of the musical similarity, but the lyrics are different, and it is in a different key)."
23 Nov 1981 | coll-LP (+ CD) | A COLLECTION OF GREAT DANCE SONGS [1971-1981] |
- One of These Days 5.49 [from MEDDLE, 1971]

- Sheep 10.21 [from ANIMALS, 1977]
- Shine on You Crazy Diamond (Edited Version) 10.40 [from WISH YOU WERE HERE, 1975]
- Wish You Were Here 5.26 [from WISH YOU WERE HERE, 1975]
- Another Brick in the Wall (Part 2) 3.54 [unique "Hybrid version": combines the intro from the single and the outro from THE WALL, 1979] (LP: EMI SHVL 822)
Info from Julian Hermeyer:
"The 1981 version of 'Money' was a re-recording which features David Gilmour on almost everything – vocals, guitars keyboards, bass guitar.
Dick Parry plays saxophone (as on the original), and the drums were probably programmed by Dave.
'A Collection of Great Dance Songs' features what is often called the 'hybrid version' of Another Brick in the Wall:
While the single version fades out during the guitar solo, it has a eight-bar instrumental intro that is absent from the album version.
On “The Wall”, it starts right with the vocals (after the bridge from the previous song) but has a longer ending.
The version on the “Collection of Great Dance Songs” combines both variations: The intro and the longer outro.
It is unique to this LP/CD because later compilations (“Echoes”, “A Foot in the Door”) include the whole “Happiest Days”/”Another Brick” medley from the album."
